Big Society Agenda

WoW Mums are attending the Big Society Network meeting on 2nd September 2010 to have a conversation about the Government’s Big Society Agenda in Wandsworth. Speakers are coming from Big Society Network, The New Economics Foundation and Urban Forum. Read more in our  WoW September 2010 newsletter.

Picnic in Goulden House

Our Parent Forum on Monday, 26th July will be on Goulden House green, Bullen Street from 1-3pm. Bring your baskets and bicycles.

Reception in City Hall

Devon Farm

We are visiting Shallowford Farm in Dartmoor National Park from 16th -18th July. This Urban Children educational project  is funded by Walter St John’s Trust, Breaks 4 Kids and Worshipful Company of Mercers with volunteers and guides from Providence House. Inter-Generational Project

Mrs. Pamela Hatton from Age Concern will attend our W.O.W Parent Forum  on Monday, 5th July 2010, from 1-3pm in KLS to discuss the Inter-Generational Project, which would  entail children working with elderly for mutual benefit. Read more in WoW Mums August 2010 Newsletter

Christ Church School’s Carnival

After last year’s W.o.W. Mums and  PTA’s successful fundraising and establishing great liaison with local Resident’s Association, Christ Church School is having another Carnival this year on Friday, 9th July from 1.30 – 4pm. This year the school is even closer to becoming the first  self sustainable school in Wandsworth with  official opening of their School Garden by Mayor of Wandsworth on the same day. Entrance free. Amazing Great Children’s Party

We will attend  Amazing Children’s Party in Battersea park, organised annually  by Variety Club in support of children with disabilities and otherwise disadvantaged families.

Child Poverty Conference

According to statistics, Wandsworth is one of the less deprived boroughs in London. It is the 23rd most deprived borough in London and has only the 22nd highest level of child poverty ( out of the 32 boroughs in the capital).  However, Wandsworth contains pockets of extreme deprivation causing social polarisation. Two of our members are attending the Child Poverty Conference in Civic Suit today  to find out more.
