According to statistics, Wandsworth is one of the less deprived boroughs in London. It is the 23rd most deprived borough in London and has only the 22nd highest level of child poverty ( out of the 32 boroughs in the capital). However, Wandsworth contains pockets of extreme deprivation causing social polarisation. Two of our members are attending the Child Poverty Conference in Civic Suit today to find out more.
One of our Mums, Sandra Munoz is starting her new regular workshop OUT&ABOUT on Friday, 2nd July from 10-11am in KLS Gym. Join her if you would like to get information on free and afordable events and trips in London and in our area. Don’t forget, our regular W.O.W Coffee Morning is after that in KLS cafe from 11am – 1pm. Free refreshments.
On Friday, 2nd July 2010, Maria Wright and Jennifer Patterson will be making fruit smoothies with us in KLS cafe from 11am to 1pm.
All WoW Mums are invited to attend our Special General Meeting on Monday, 28th June from 1-3pm in KLS, to vote on W.O.W evolving into a charity and registering with Charity Comission to apply for Charity Status.
On Monday, 21st June we have a special visitor from KLS Management Committee, Mrs. Elaine Curley, to establish closer link between KLS and the Community Groups using KLS Centre. Join our Parent Forum from 1-3pm if you would like to contribute to this project.
On Friday, 18th June we will have a nail decorating day in KLS cafe from 11am – 1pm to look great on Sunday when we take our children’s Dads to lunch. Free DVD library on Friday as well.
We visited London Zoo today to take part in Special Children’s Day organised by Daytrippers. It was a lovely educational and fun day for children and Mums. Read more in WoW Mums June 2010 Newsletter.
Baby Shower for Deepika is on Friday, 11th June in KLS cafe from 11am – 1pm. Hope you can come and celebrate a new baby due in July 2010.
We are proud to announce that three of our W.O.W mums Clara Fernandes, Sandra Munoz and Hadas Hagos, who are also volunteering for Family Action, received recognition for their hard work and commitment during the National Volunteer Week. The event was hosted by Yvonne Carr Children’s Center and was attended by the Mayor of the Borough who presented volunteers with certificate.
Wandsworth Contact a Family is holding a coffee morning on Friday, 11th June 2010 in KLS meeting room from 10am-12, to raise an awareness of disabled children’s needs in Battersea. Positive Parent Acction – organisation of parents of disabled children, will attend too.
