International Women’s Day

City Hall W.O.W Mums attended an Exhibition in City Hall called Our London Our Women. It’s been 100 years since the first International Women’s Day was held in 1911 to highlight ‘financially unacceptable and often dangerous’ working conditions, said Michelle Bachelet, head of UN Women and a former president of Chile. It brought more than a million women out into the street and now thousands of events are held to celebrate women’s contribution to society.
‘Despite this progress, the hopes of equality expressed on that first International Women’s Day are a long way from being realised,’ added Ms Bachelet.

Pancake Day

We celebrated Pancake Day today at Senia’s house and tried different fillings from arround the world. In Finland they use Cloudberries jam, which is rich in vitamine C and is indigenous to North Finland. In Ethiopia the pancakes are filled with quickly fried spinach, smoked garlic and home made cheese. The French sprinkle sugar and lemon juice over the crepes before they flambe them with some brandy.

Pump House

Ms. Sarah Cloos from Pump House in Battersea Park will attend our parent forum on Monday, 28th February from 1-2pm to tell us about the People’s Show.
